Quick chat with Simone Sello, R&D Manager at Landlab about Biostimulants.

Q: Simone, what has been happening in Landlab’s R&D lately?
Simone: over the past three years, we’ve conducted 956 experiments, 59% focused on biostimulants—a field we’re deeply passionate about.

Q: What is the most exciting part of your job?
Simone: we are highly involved in product development, from raw materials onward, to identify the key mechanisms of action for each ingredient. The challenge—and the thrill—is to keep continuously innovating, exploring diverse research topics for both our projects and those of our clients.

Q: What are the main research subjects?
Simone: so far, the focus has been the investigation of biostimulants under abiotic stress and sub-optimal conditions, as well as their role as plant strengtheners. These studies are essential for enhancing crop resilience, especially in challenging growing environments.

Q: Are there any emerging themes in your research?
Simone: Absolutely! In recent years, the microbial world has taken center stage, with an emphasis on soil health and plant-microbiobe interactions. This area is opening exciting new opportunities for supporting crop growth and resilience.
